Branches, franchises and state licenses
If you work in more than one state, or your company runs several offices or franchises, set this up once and every proposal shows the right name, address and license number.
Licenses and registration numbers
Settings → Branches & Licenses → Company Licenses & Registrations (owners and admins; also on the office web page).
Add each one with its state, kind (CCB, Contractor Registration, Business License…), number, and an end date if it has one. A proposal prints only the licenses for the customer's state, after your license line:
An Idaho job doesn't show your Oregon number, and a Wyoming job shows only Wyoming's.
Branches and franchises
Add a Branch or Franchise for each office or company you run (for example, Zerorez Atlanta's other franchises):
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Letterhead — name, address, phone, email, website | Printed on its proposals instead of the company's (anything left blank uses the company's) |
| States served | Customers with an address in these states use this branch automatically |
| This branch's licenses | Printed for customers in that state, along with the company's |
| Bills as its own business | Its own legal name, W-9 (upload or fill in) and insurance certificate go to its customers instead of the company's |
Which branch a customer gets
- The branch picked on the customer (Edit Customer → Branch), or
- the branch that serves the customer's state, or
- the company itself.
Good to know
- Logo, colors, rates and proposal wording stay the company's.
- QuickBooks stays one connection for the whole company. A branch that keeps separate books would need its own Preflight company for now.
- Archiving a branch sends its customers back to the company's letterhead.
