Measuring & Field Work
Measuring stairs
Open the customer → Stairs → Add Stairs.
A staircase
- Name it ("Main Stairs", "Front lobby stairs").
- Each flight has a name, a step count, a Width (tread width, edge to edge; leave it blank for your standard width) and a Surface.
- Add a Flight for each run. A split stair is the flight up to the landing plus one flight up each side. Remove This Flight takes one off.
Landings and notes
Enter the Landing square feet and its surface. Landings are priced as floor area; measure one with Quick Area or length × width. Notes hold railings, nosing, runners and the like.
Pricing
If your rate set scales stairs by width (Settings → rate set → stairs), a 6-foot-wide step costs twice a 3-foot standard step. Narrow steps never cost less than the standard price. On an estimate, use Add Measured Stairs to bring a staircase in with its steps and widths.
On the floor plan
In Arrange Rooms, Place Stairs puts the staircase in the middle of the screen, attached to the room under it, so it moves with that room. See Arranging rooms on the floor plan.
Delete Stairs removes the staircase from the customer (not available to techs).
